About Centre for Good Governance and Peace

Centre for Good Governance and Peace (CGGAP) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal that works in the sector of peacebuilding, good governance, conflict resolution and youth empowerment. It was founded by a group of young professionals and human rights & governance activists aspired to preventing, managing, and resolving conflict through alternative and creative means. It was established as a loose network in 2016.

CGGAP is also involved in research, dissemination and deliberation on Nepal's peace and development process. Moreover, we engage in action-oriented research, policy influencing, documentation, information sharing, strategic dialogue, networking and partnership building. We also collaborate with partners and donors to achieve our objectives. We work for establishing sustainable peace and good governance in Nepal and partner with organizations on projects in line with peace building, good governance and people's rights.

vision and mission

The vision of CGGAP is to create societies that are peaceful, equal, free of violence, well governed and democratic.

The mission of CGGAP is to understand and prevent any form of violence, heal its effects and build sustainable peace at community, national and regional levels. We do this through the practice of good governance and collaboration with and learning from diverse experiences of communities affected by violence and conflict to: inform innovative interventions; generate knowledge; shape public discourse; influence policy; hold states accountable; promote gender equality; and promote social cohesion, integration and active citizenship.
